    Short answer

The only official way to turn Robux into real money is DevEx (Developer Exchange) — Roblox’s own cash-out program. It only works on Earned Robux (from selling items, game passes, or experiences), needs a minimum of 30,000 Earned Robux, and pays out at $0.0038 per Robux at the current standard rate. Anything else claiming to “convert Robux to cash” outside of DevEx is against Roblox’s Terms of Use and usually a scam. Here’s exactly how it works.

If you’ve been grinding a game, selling UGC items, or just sitting on a big Robux balance wondering “okay but can I actually get money for this” — yes, but there’s exactly one legitimate door, and it’s easy to miss if you’re new to the creator side of Roblox. Let’s break down what qualifies, what it pays, and how to avoid the scams that show up every time someone searches this exact question.

DevEx is the only real way to cash out

Developer Exchange is Roblox’s official program for converting Earned Robux into US dollars, paid out through their processor, Tipalti, straight to your bank account or PayPal. There’s no workaround, no hidden feature, no third-party site that legitimately does this faster or for more money — Roblox controls the exchange rate and the payout, full stop.

The part that trips people up: DevEx doesn’t work on all Robux. It only works on Earned Robux, which is a specific category. Robux you bought with your own money, got as a gift, or received from a Premium stipend can’t be cashed out — ever. This one distinction explains most of the confusion around “how to turn Robux into money.”

What actually counts as “Earned” Robux

Roblox draws a hard line between Robux you generated through your own creations and Robux you acquired any other way. Here’s the split:

    • Counts: Game pass sales, developer product purchases, private server subscriptions, in-experience item sales, and UGC/avatar item sales through the marketplace.
    • Doesn’t count: Robux you personally purchased, Robux received as a gift, Premium stipend Robux, and (in most cases) group funds distributed to you that you didn’t personally create the content for.

One catch worth knowing before you price anything: when you sell an item or a game pass, Roblox takes its standard 30% marketplace fee before that Robux even reaches your Earned balance. If you list something at 1,000 R$, you actually earn 700 R$ — run your own numbers through the Robux tax calculator before you set a price, so you’re not surprised later.

    DevEx eligibility checklist (2026)

Before you can hit “Cash Out,” Roblox needs you to check every one of these boxes:

    1. You’re 13 or older with an account in good standing (no active bans or Terms violations)
    2. You have a minimum of 30,000 Earned Robux in your balance
    3. You’ve completed onboarding with Tipalti, Roblox’s payment processor
    4. You’ve submitted a W-9 (US persons) or W-8BEN (non-US persons) for tax purposes
    5. You have a payout method linked — ACH, PayPal, wire transfer, or check, depending on your region

Roblox Premium used to be a requirement here and no longer is — if you’re seeing older guides say otherwise, that’s outdated information.

How much Robux is actually worth in cash

Roblox currently runs three DevEx rates side by side, and which one applies depends on when the Robux was earned:

    RatePer Robux30,000 Robux
Legacy (earned before Sept 5, 2025)$0.0035$105
Standard (earned after Sept 5, 2025)$0.0038$114
US 18+ (qualifying spend, since June 2026)$0.0054$162

Roblox cashes out your oldest (legacy-rate) Robux first, automatically, before touching anything at the newer rates — you don’t get to choose the order.

Plug in your own balance to see the exact payout for any amount. Open DevEx Calculator →

Step-by-step: submitting a DevEx cash out

    1. Check your Earned Robux balance in your Creator Dashboard — make sure you’re actually at 30,000+.
    2. Complete Tipalti onboarding if you haven’t already — this is where you set up your payout method.
    3. Submit your W-9 or W-8BEN for tax reporting.
    4. Click “Cash Out” on your account page, enter the Robux amount, and confirm.
    5. Wait for approval and payment — Roblox reviews the request, and once approved, Tipalti typically processes payment within 3–7 business days.

Fastest ways to earn Robux that actually qualifies

If you’re not at 30,000 Earned Robux yet, here’s where it realistically comes from:

    • Sell UGC and avatar items. Clothing, accessories, and other catalog items sold through the marketplace generate Earned Robux (minus the 30% fee mentioned earlier).
    • Build and monetize a game. Game passes and developer products are the biggest source of Earned Robux for most creators — even a small experience with a few hundred daily players can add up over months.
    • Engagement-based payouts. Roblox pays some creators based on Premium user engagement time in their experience, which also counts as Earned Robux.

None of these are fast money. Realistically, reaching 30,000 Robux from a new, small game takes weeks to months, not days — which is exactly why “quick Robux to cash” sites are tempting, and exactly why they’re the ones to avoid.

What doesn’t work — and can get you banned

Avoid these entirely: third-party “sell your Robux for cash” sites, Discord sellers offering PayPal for Robux, and any app claiming to be a “Robux converter” outside of Roblox’s own DevEx button. These all violate Roblox’s Terms of Use, and using them risks a permanent account ban — on top of the very real chance you just don’t get paid at all. Robux can only ever leave the Roblox ecosystem through the official Cash Out button.

Same goes for trading Limited items off-platform for real money, or anyone offering to “boost” your account to Robux-earning status for a fee. If it isn’t happening through Roblox’s own Cash Out flow, it isn’t legitimate DevEx, no matter how it’s marketed.

Quick example: from sold items to your bank account

Say you’ve sold enough UGC hoodies and game passes over a few months to hit exactly 50,000 Earned Robux, all earned after September 2025. Here’s the full path:

    • 50,000 Robux at the standard DevEx rate ($0.0038) = $190
    • You submit the Cash Out request through Tipalti
    • Roblox reviews and approves it (assuming your account is in good standing)
    • Payment lands in your bank account within roughly 3–7 business days

Want to see what a different balance or rate mix looks like? Run it through the DevEx calculator, or compare it against what the same Robux would’ve cost to buy in the first place using the Robux to USD calculator — the gap between buying and cashing out is bigger than most people expect.

    FAQ: turning Robux into money

Can I turn Robux into money without DevEx?

No. DevEx is the only method Roblox permits. Any site or seller offering to convert Robux to cash outside of DevEx violates Roblox’s Terms of Use and puts your account at risk of a ban.

How much is 100,000 Robux in real money?

At the current standard DevEx rate of $0.0038 per Robux, 100,000 Earned Robux is worth $380. At the legacy rate it’s $350, and at the US 18+ rate it’s $540.

Do I need Roblox Premium for DevEx?

No — Premium was previously required but is no longer part of Roblox’s official DevEx eligibility requirements as of 2026.

Is selling Robux for cash outside Roblox legal?

It’s against Roblox’s Terms of Use, which puts your account at risk of suspension or a permanent ban. It isn’t a criminal offense, but you have no protection if the buyer or seller doesn’t pay up, and Roblox won’t intervene on your behalf.

How long does DevEx cash out take?

Once Roblox approves your Cash Out request, Tipalti typically processes payment within 3 to 7 business days.

This guide is independent and not endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with Roblox Corporation. Robux, Roblox, and DevEx are trademarks of Roblox Corporation. Rates and requirements change periodically — verify current details on Roblox’s official DevEx page before cashing out. This isn’t tax or legal advice; DevEx income may be taxable in your country, so check with a tax professional for your specific situation.
